Q: SEPROTEC recently instigated innovative activities in the translation industry. Could you expand on some of these?
A: Indeed, SEPROTEC periodically holds training courses aimed at applying all the company's practical knowledge for use by professionals wishing to work with SEPROTEC. At present, therefore, the "First Course on Legal Procedures for Court and Police Interpreters and Translators" in Lleida has just been concluded, and arrangements are now being made to hold this course shortly in Barcelona, Madrid and Alicante. A "Theoretical and practical translation course in Medical and Pharmaceutical Translation" is also currently being organized
Q: Spanish companies generally tend to be reticent in trying to conquer markets abroad. What experience does SEPROTEC have in this area?
A: This process was begun years ago by SEPROTEC, when it started working for different Organizations of the European Union. Our company now provides multilingual services not only to and from Spanish, but also for all language combinations, offering services to companies in every continent. SEPROTEC thus has a network of specialized translators throughout the world and a network of offices in Barcelona, Lleida, Madrid, Alicante, New York, London, Paris and Hong Kong, from where it can pay closer attention to its customers.
Q: Few industries have experienced such profound transformation and influence from information technology and telecommunications as the translation industry. What measures has SEPROTEC introduced to integrate the latest technologies in its production process?
A: As far as the process is concerned, SEPROTEC is about to complete an in-house management programme with which it can more effectively control all the internal areas and processes of the company.
As far as translation is concerned, for many years it has been creating terminology databases which improve the quality of the final translation. It has also produced specific terminology databases customized for each of its customers.
